How to SEO Using Best Search Engine Optimization Tips

FREE SEO Course: SEO Secrets. Fill in your First Name and Primary Email address in the boxes and Hit Submit button!

Knowing the best search engine optimization tips can put you far above many other Internet marketers. There are too many people who just quickly set up a website and expect it to rank highly without fully understanding what it is that the search engines want. By showing an interest in what to do and what not to do, you have already set yourself up to become successful online.

The first thing you should realize is that search engines enjoy quality content. You can think of them as a service. Their service is to provide relevant and quality results to the people who use the search engine.

If you are just filling your website with gibberish, it is not going to the kind of result people are looking for. On the other hand, if you do have quality content, the search engines are likely to recognize that and rank you above many other websites because you are exactly what they want. Remember — if the search engine puts “crap” at the top of the listings people will stop using them. They need to provide good service, which means YOU need to provide good service to rank!

In fact, you could probably rank highly without using any other SEO tips, just by having quality content. That can take a lot of time — so that’s probably not the only route you want to take. You should also start a link building campaign to gain quality backlinks to your sites. There are many different ways to go about this for the best search engine optimization.

Some examples include:

Article marketing
Link exchanges
Directory submission
Blog commenting

The point of getting links is because the search engines view them as a “vote” for your website. Popular websites generally get many others linking to them. This can happen naturally, but it doesn’t hurt to give things a little push.

Submitting articles and developing relationships with other websites can certainly put you ahead of the game. Even though this can be a great thing, be careful not to make it too obvious that you are exchanging links with others. That’s because SEO experts suspect that the search engines do not look favorably upon link exchanges. In fact, Google even takes a strong stance against buying links as they consider this to be gaming their search engine.

Yet another consideration is using keywords in effort to link for that word or phrase in the search engine. You can use Google’s own keyword research tool in order to find relevant keywords to use in your content. You’ll want to choose one main keyword and a few related keywords (for latent semantic indexing) for each piece of content. Be sure to do a search in Google first with the key word in quotes to see what your competition is with other websites.

Hopefully, reading these best search engine optimization tips will give you a great head start to rank in the search engines. The higher you rank for your targeted terms, the better the potential is that you will reach your desired income levels.

How To Start An Online Business

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

FREE SEO Course: SEO Secrets. Fill in your First Name and Primary Email address in the boxes and Hit Submit button!

Being a business drone in these lean financial times may not be enough if you are raising a family and at the same time planning to retire early, cruising around the world. The problem is, if you give up your current job to find greener pastures, you might not be able to find one in months, even years. And that’s if you are lucky enough to find one even. The answer then to your problems is to build your own business. But what kind? How about an online business?

When starting an online business, make sure that you know what it is you are going to be selling. And what you will be selling, you must know enough about it to be considered an authority. You can’t go about selling hair products, while your background is plumbing. Who would buy from you? Also, you must figure out if what you’ll be selling is a service, or a product. A downloadable one or one you have to ship? All these are important so you must think of these carefully.

Now that you have your product, what do you do next? Having a business plan goes without saying, so let’s skip that. What you should do next is to build your own website. The best thing of course is to buy your own domain name, and have a professional build your site. Though if you are adept at building sites, you can do it yourself of course. But if you are on a budget, you can always start with using the many free blog sites out there as a launching pad. Then when you have the budget, you can purchase your own domain name.

So, now that you have a blog, or a web site to call your own, what’s next? The next thing to do is putting in the content. Write your own copy or you can hire someone to do it. Be sure to optimize your pages and content according to the basic tenets of SEO or search engine optimization. If you don’t know what that is, then consider learning all about SEO the next step you should do before putting in your content. But if you want to put in content, before or after learning about SEO, make sure that the content you put into your site is of high quality. This is to make your customers feel that they are dealing with a professional and not some Internet hack.

You have a product, you have web site or blog to sell it. Now what? Well, you can continually upgrade your site, adding programs, and applications. Adding clickbank is a good idea to take care of purchases and orders. But the most important thing to do next, is to make sure your site gets the proper SEO treatment. This is to market your site and make it easily accessible to everyone. So as I mentioned before, learn SEO and find out all the ways it can help you and your business. If you don’t have the time, hire an SEO expert. But whatever you opt to do, make sure you have SEO done on your site.

The SEO Method: Internet Marketing Affiliate Program

To learn the SEO basics can at first be a daunting task. You’d have to know the terms, how search engines work, how to optimize, then you’ll be faced by the bigger words like on page optimization or keyword research. I admit, facing those terms you’d be more than daunted by the seemingly complex art of SEO.

But before you close the book on your SEO journey because of your fear, let me tell you right now that it just sounds like it’s complicated, but it’s actually one of the easiest things to learn. But don’t let that factoid fool you, for though it is easy to learn, it sometimes takes a lifetime to master.

Many SEO experts continue researching and learning about it to keep up to date to all the changes in the field. Since search engine optimization is deeply rooted in technology, so too does the changes that go with it. We all know that technology changes at a fast pace. Computers grow smaller, search engines grow smarter and more complex, and what may work perfectly five years ago, may not work at all, or worse, may even cause more harm than good.

If you are a little familiar with the history of SEO, which you might learn once you get to research more about it, you will know how during the infancy of the Internet, some SEO techniques involve just typing the keyword over and over. Now, if you are old enough to remember it, these sites may seem strange to you, but as you grow more knowledgeable, you will understand what it all means. Now, if you used those techniques today, not only won’t it work, but it may even lessen your chances to be ranked since search engines may block it as spam.

So for those who wish to learn SEO be sure to make your basic foundation solid, because once things get to be more complex, you will learn that the simplest way may turn out to be the best way.

Learn the Basic’s of SEO

Thursday, April 30th, 2009

If you’ve been working online for a bit and still feel baffled about Search Engine Optimization (there ya go, that’s what SEO is!) this is a must read for you.  This article will explore SEO,  how you can apply it appropriately, and what you must do to be sure you don’t get penalized.

(Before I dive right in, Conquest Authority is a training program that will go over SEO in full detail, but for now, you can start off here.)

As I said above, SEO means search engine optimization. The most confusing question new internet marketers wonder is what is a search engine? I know this is extremely basic, but this is where you must start.  Once you learn the absolute basics, when you begin to explore more on the topic of SEO, you will have a full understanding of exactly what it is.

Search engines are the places you go to when you are trying to find something on the interent. For example, Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask, etc. These are all search engines. When you are trying to find an answer on the internet, you visit a search engine, type in the keywords you are searching for, and presto! The search engine “searches” the internet for you and brings up an entire list of all the websites on the internet that are relevant to your keywords.

You know what a search engine is and you know what SEO is.  Now let me explain to you how you can optimize your site for it.

The most important thing you need to do before any optimization, is you must determine your desired targeted keywords for your site. To be more specific, finding the terms you want your site ranked for with the search engines. An example of this would be:

You have a website loaded with fixing computers. People who are trying to find information about repairing their computers might search for these phrases: what’s wrong with my computer, what does a blue screen on a computer mean, or my computer is broken. These phrases would all be considered long tail keywords, and those are what you would want to target, because they are the actual terms that people search the search engines for.

Make sure when picking your keywords or key phrases, they are actual phrases that get searched for, if not, you won’t get any traffic to your site. (Another tip is to be sure you pick keywords that don’t have a lot websites targeting them. You may still never get traffic if there is too many sites competing.) I recommend using a keyword research tool to help you find some great ones. You can use Google’s free keyword tool, or Wordtracker’s free tool if money is tight. They are perfect starter tools, and they do the job fantastically. Once you start making some money, I really do recommend you get a paid tool because they are so much more effective, and you can really find some good keywords you would never have thought of.

You can read more on keyword research and finding good keywords here.

Alright, so now that you have your keywords, the next step is to be sure your website is optimized for those keywords. How can you do this? It’s really simple, actually.

The first rule of thumb is always make the title of your page or post (if it’s a blog) isthe exact key phrase or word you are targeting. This will be known as your title tag. Title tags have a huge influence on the search engines when they visit your site, so whatever your title is, the search engines will consider it a keyword and you want to rank for it. This goes for your domain name as well. Your page/post title and your website title (domain name) are incredibly important factors in the SEO world.

Once you have purchased your domain (your URl), and you have picked your targeted key phrases or words, the next part is to add content to your website or blog. Your article should be between 400-500 words at least, and make sure you include your targeted keywords or phrases at least 2-3 times in the body. Do NOT go overboard with this, or you will get penalized. Keepin in mind the keyword density is not over 7% (amount of keywords vs. actual words on page). Staying below 6-7% is much better. If you go over this recommended safety net, the search engines may see you as “keyword stuffing”. Keyword stuffing means using your keywords too many times in one page, and your site will pay for it if you do that, I promise.

The longer the page and content, the better chance you have of being able to get all your keywords in and not make it look like you are keyword stuffing. In other words, keep your posts and pages long, and you can get all your keywords in. Search engines like long text articles and unique content.

Do not fret about getting every keyword phrase in your article multiple times, because the search engines are smart, and if you have a quality site, Google will rank you for keywords you never even thought to rank for. The highest goal is sticking your main phrase in 2-3 times, and the others at least one time.

That’s SEO in a nutshell. Learn as much as you can about the matter, because it truly will benefit you in the long run.  Learning SEO takes some patience, but you will be a pro in no time.
